How can we scientifically evaluate the effectiveness of organic fertilizer disintegrants? Typically, this is done by combining laboratory tests with field trials. Commonly used in the lab are... “Static Water Disintegration Test”: A certain amount of organic fertilizer granules is placed into still water, and the time required for them to completely disintegrate is observed and recorded. The shorter the time, the better the disintegration performance. For even greater precision, the particle size distribution of the suspended solids after disintegration can be measured. Field trials, on the other hand, are more closely aligned with real-world conditions: treated organic fertilizer is applied to the soil, and its decomposition rate under natural conditions is monitored regularly, while simultaneously tracking the soil’s physicochemical properties and crop growth. By employing these comprehensive methods, it is possible to objectively evaluate the true effectiveness of disintegrants in promoting the release of nutrients from organic fertilizers.
